Interpreting Rules in the Energy Sector

October 20, 2011, Calgary & Edmonton | Presentation
“If you don’t like rules, what would you and everyone else use to decide matters?” Rules exist! We create processes and style guides to serve as the rules around our documentation projects, and the regulatory industry for the energy sector is no different. Understanding the purpose and intent behind the rules and regulations we all face is the key to understanding the rule itself. This presentation seeks to demonstrate five stages that establish general guidelines to assist the audience in decoding the purpose and intent behind a rule:

  1. Dissecting a rule
  2. Identifying and labelling the dissected parts of the rule
  3. Defining the words or phases of the rule
  4. Comprehending the words or phases of the rule
  5. Applying the rule
