Throughout the Fall 2017 semester, senior-level Information Design students at Mount Royal University were asked to use the Human Centred Design Process to examine one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals; a framework for the most important challenges that we are facing today as a society, with topics ranging from access to clean water and healthy food, safety and security, sustainability and climate change, gender equality and many more.
These global concerns exist on our doorstep, and Information Designers have the unique capacity to make sense of the complex overlapping systems that these challenges are borne out of. In fact, the responsibility that they have as Information Designers is to make the complex clear and accessible for people, enabling understanding, empathy and action.
