Join us for a presentation on tips for technical communicators who are interested in working in web design and/or web development as either freelance contractors or as employees. The presenters will provide an overview of the web business and offer some advice in regards to getting started including:
- Knowing which software applications to use to get the project done
- Understanding the design process (concept, construction, testing, completion)
- Learning the language and industry jargon (for example, front-end vs. back-end development)
- Becoming familiar with emerging technologies and keeping up with trends and industry issues
- Other related topics

- Directions: CTI is located in University Research Park. If you’re taking the LRT, get off at the Brentwood station; the CTI is across the parking lot.

About the Presenters
Stephen Manktelow and Lee Rempel are young and up-and-coming designers with clients including The Construction Owner’s Association of Alberta , Ascension Systems Inc., Mount Royal College, and thereviewcrew.com
Stephen has also worked for Shell Canada and is currently a Technical Writer at Schlumberger Information Solutions. Lee has also worked as a front-end Developer at SMART Technologies and most recently, as Web Designer for CityTV.
