The Society for Technical Communication (STC) is a worldwide professional association dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of technical communication in all its facets. Our network consists of technical writers, editors, illustrators, multimedia content experts, and more. Our mission is to further the profession of technical communication through awareness and professional development.
There are currently almost 14,000 active members in 36 countries; Canada has a membership of almost 1,500. The STC Head Office is in Fairfax, Virginia, and manages membership registration. The global organization is active through many individual “Communities.” These communities are comprised of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and geographic Chapters; currently there are more than 150 Chapters worldwide, with 9 chapters in Canada.
Our community adheres to the Chapter Bylaws in accordance with Alberta Corporate Registries for Non-Profit organizations, and the Society bylaws (for STC International based out of Virginia, USA).
This site is built and maintained by STC Alberta Chapter, representing technical communicators within Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories.
