Our Community
We are a geographic community of the Society for Technical Communication (STC), a worldwide association dedicated to the advancement of the theory and practice of technical communication in all its facets. The STC Alberta Chapter represents technical communicators within Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories.
Our membership includes writers, editors, documentation specialists, translators, multimedia artists, online Help developers, graphic designers, instructional designers, and website designers. Our community represents independent consultants, contractors, employees, managers, supervisors, educators, and students in the field of technical communication.
2011 Highlights
2011 was both eventful and progressive with these accomplishments:
- Winning the Pacesetter Award.
- Increased Social Media presence. To enhance our online presence, we created a profile on LinkedIn for STC Alberta, and we created a Twitter account.
- Building our affiliations with several related organizations; affiliations increase our reach across numerous professional segments and augment our promotional efforts by cross-promoting events, increasing networking opportunities, and extending member pricing to STC Alberta members.
- Planning for Phase II of our Website redesign completed by our stellar Web team, Brian Thompson and Janice Liwanag.
