New Heights
The New Heights seminar is STC Alberta’s premier educational event of each year. We bring in a noted speaker for a day-long (usually intensive) workshop on a topic of interest to our broad Alberta audience and provide attendees with materials, lunch and snacks, and a first-class educational experience. You will come away from the seminar with a good appreciation of a tool or concept you always wanted to know more about, or a deeper feel for something you already work with.
New Heights 2010 a Success!
At the New Heights 2010 seminar on Instructional Design, held June 4, participants discovered best practices for designing training course materials, tutorials, and more from recognized industry leader, Bernard Aschwanden. Bernard is a professor in the continuing education Technical Communications program with Seneca@York, and founder and president of Publishing Smarter. Through his engaging presentation and interactive workshop, attendees gained effective techniques to identify learning objectives, develop content, and evaluate instructional effectiveness.

STC Alberta is seeking a New Heights Manager to organize next year's seminar. It's a fun opportunity to explore the latest industry trends and steer the Chapter's premier educational event of the year. You can pick the venue, the food, the topic, and the speaker. You will receive a complete job description, organizational tips and tricks, support from fellow chapter members, and a survey of past seminar ideas so that you don’t have to start with a completely blank slate. Plus, it looks great on your resume to say that you organized a successful event for your professional society.
